Placements24 is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to lead operations in Sandton, South Africa. The role focuses on providing expert input for major urban development projects, including commercial complexes, residential estates, and infrastructure upgrades across Gauteng.

You will mentor a team of engineers, supervise complex investigations, and design robust foundation solutions while ensuring compliance with SA geotechnical codes.

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctoral degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Professional registration as a Pr.Eng with ECSA.
• A minimum of 12 years of progressive geotechnical experience with urban development and large building projects.
• Expertise in foundation design for high-rise buildings and complex infrastructure.
• Proficiency with advanced geotechnical software and site investigation techniques.
• Strong leadership, communication, and report-writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical investigations for large-scale urban development projects.
• Design foundations, retaining structures, and earthworks for complex sites.
• Analyze soil and rock mechanics, including slope stability and settlements.
• Provide expert advice on groundwater management and dewatering strategies.
• Oversee preparation of geotechnical reports and design recommendations.
• Manage project teams and client relationships; mentor junior staff.
