Placements24 seeks a Principal Cloud Security Architect to design, implement, and govern secure cloud architectures across AWS, Azure, and GCP from their Kimberley-based office in the Northern Cape. The role emphasizes governance, policy development, and cross-team collaboration within a hybrid work model.

You will mentor security engineers, drive regulatory compliance, and evaluate new cloud security technologies to support a secure, scalable multi-cloud environment for the organization.

Qualifications

• Master’s or higher in CS, InfoSec, or related field; Bachelor’s with extensive experience accepted.
• 10+ years in information security, with at least 5 years in cloud security architecture.
• Deep expertise across AWS, Azure, and GCP security designs and controls.
• Experience with IaC and CI/CD pipelines; knowledge of containers security.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect secure, scalable cloud solutions across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Develop and enforce cloud security policies, standards, and best practices.
• Implement and manage IAM, KMS, security groups, encryption and data protection mechanisms.
• Conduct security assessments and remediation recommendations for cloud environments.

About the Role

Our client, a leading innovator in cloud-native solutions, is seeking a highly experienced Principal Cloud Security Architect to join their growing team. This role, based in our Kimberley, Northern Capeoffice, will be pivotal in designing, implementing, and governing secure cloud architectures across multiple cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). You will be responsible for defining security standards, implementing advanced security controls, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements in a complex, multi-cloud environment. This position adopts a hybridwork model, offering flexibility while maintaining essential collaboration within the Kimberleytech community.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and architect secure, scalable, and resilient cloud solutions across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Develop and enforce cloud security policies, standards, and best practices.
• Implement and manage cloud security controls, including identity and access management (IAM), network security groups, encryption, and data protection mechanisms.
• Conduct security assessments of cloud environments and applications, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending remediation.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate security into DevOps (DevSecOps) pipelines and CI/CD processes.
• Lead the evaluation and adoption of new cloud security technologies and services.
• Develop and maintain cloud security architecture documentation.
• Provide expert guidance on cloud security best practices and regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001).
• Mentor junior security engineers and architects.
• Respond to cloud security incidents and participate in threat hunting activities.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field; Bachelor's degree with extensive experience will be considered.
• 10+ years of experience in information security, with a minimum of 5 years focused on cloud security architecture.
• Deep expertise in designing and securing large-scale environments on AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
• Proven experience with cloud security services such as IAM, KMS, security groups, WAF, and cloud-native firewalls.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and their security implications.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
• Exceptional communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Relevant cloud security certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Security – Specialty, Azure Security Engineer Associate, Google Professional Cloud Security Engineer) are highly desirable.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybridmodel within the Kimberleyoffice environment.
