Responsibilities

• Design and implement cloud security architectures for AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Develop and enforce cloud security policies, standards, and best practices.
• Conduct security reviews of cloud deployments and provide hardening recommendations.
• Implement and manage security tools for cloud environments (WAF, IDS/IPS, KMS).
• Collaborate with engineering/DevOps to embed security in CI/CD pipelines.

About the Role

Our client is looking for an innovative and experienced Cloud Security Architect to join their fully remote team, contributing expertise from anywhere in South Africa . This role is crucial for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure cloud infrastructures that protect our client's critical data and applications. You will be responsible for defining cloud security strategies, architecting secure solutions on major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and ensuring compliance with global security standards. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of cloud-native security controls and best practices, driving secure adoption of cloud technologies across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust cloud security architectures for AWS, Azure, and GCP environments.
• Develop and enforce cloud security policies, standards, and best practices.
• Conduct security reviews of cloud deployments and provide recommendations for hardening.
• Implement and manage security tools for cloud environments, including WAF, IDS/IPS, and key management.
• Collaborate with engineering and DevOps teams to ensure security is integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
• Lead the response to cloud security incidents and perform forensic analysis when required.
• Stay abreast of emerging cloud security threats and technologies, recommending appropriate solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in information security, with a strong focus on cloud security.
• Proven expertise in architecting and securing solutions on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud security tools, IAM, network security groups, and encryption.
• Strong understanding of containerization security (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless security.
• Relevant cloud security certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Security – Specialty, Azure Security Engineer Associate) are highly valued.
