Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Cloud Security Architect to design, implement and maintain robust security architectures for cloud infrastructure. This remote-first role covers South Africa and requires deep expertise in cloud security, threat modeling and secure application development.

You will lead security for AWS, Azure and GCP, enforce policies, conduct assessments, and collaborate with development and operations to embed security across the SDLC.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in information security with 5+ years focused on cloud security.
• Proven experience designing security architectures on AWS, Azure, GCP.
• Knowledge of risk frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001) and compliance.
• Experience with SIEM, IDS/IPS, WAF and vulnerability scanners.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement security solutions for cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement comprehensive security solutions for cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures across the cloud environment.
• Conduct regular security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability management activities.
• Implement and manage security controls for identity and access management, data encryption, and network security.
• Lead threat modeling exercises and incident response planning for cloud-based systems.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to embed security throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field; Master's preferred.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in information security, with at least 5 years focused on cloud security .
• Proven experience designing and implementing security architectures on major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• In-depth knowledge of security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) and compliance requirements.
• Experience with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, WAF, and vulnerability scanners.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex security concepts clearly in a remote setting.
