Job summary

ScalableOS is seeking a Presales Engineer to guide clients through complex technology decisions, translating requirements into actionable plans for the Projects team. You will combine deep expertise in cloud solutions, cybersecurity, and managed IT services with strong client consultation skills to shape winning proposals.

In this role you’ll participate in discovery calls, map business needs to technical outcomes, and collaborate with Sales, Projects, and Support to ensure feasible, scalable

Qualifications

• Discovery calls with clients to understand business and technical pain points.
• 5+ years of technical support experience in an MSP environment.
• Strong knowledge of desktop and server operating systems.
• Deep knowledge of networking concepts and design (IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, firewalls).
• Experience designing cloud solutions (Microsoft 365, Azure, Azure AD, Intune).
• Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and service management practices.
• Experience with RMM tools (Datto RMM is a plus).
• Experience with Autotask PSA is a plus.

SUMMARY

The Presales Engineer will help clients navigate complex technology decisions, resulting in a clear, detailed, and actionable plan that the Projects team can execute. This role will drive successful business outcomes by combining deep technical expertise in areas such as cloud solutions, cybersecurity, and managed IT services with an inquisitive mindset and the ability to consult with clients and propose solutions. To be successful in this role, you must be comfortable participating in discovery calls with clients, asking probing questions to understand their business and technology pain points. Success in this role will be measured by client satisfaction, the accuracy of project plans, and the seamless handoff of actionable solutions to the Projects team.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Client Engagement: Participate in scoping calls with clients to understand business challenges, technical requirements, and desired outcomes.
• Requirements Analysis: Investigate and validate client requirements through detailed discussions and discovery sessions.
• Environment Assessment: Document the client’s existing infrastructure, applications, and operational processes to identify gaps and opportunities.
• Solution Design: Develop comprehensive, scalable, and cost-effective managed services solutions tailored to client needs.
• Presentation & Proposal: Create and deliver compelling solution presentations and proposals that clearly articulate value, technical approaches, and benefits.
• Collaboration: Work closely with Sales teams, the Projects department, and Support teams to ensure proposed solutions are feasible and aligned with organizational capabilities.
• Research and learn emerging technologies while consulting with internal decision-makers to help inform company offerings and services.
• Educate internal teams on new solutions, how they are sold and deployed, and how they fit into existing offerings.
• The Presales Engineer is a key role that contributes to the company’s overall success. Due to the nature of the role combined with the company’s aggressive growth goals, the position is expected to evolve and grow over time.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Education
• High school diploma required.
• Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field preferred.
• Technical Skills
• 5+ years of technical support experience in an MSP environment.
• Strong knowledge of desktop and server operating systems.
• Deep knowledge of networking concepts and design (IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, and firewalls).
• Extensive experience designing cloud solutions (Microsoft 365, Azure, Azure AD, and Intune).
• Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and service management best practices.
• Experience with Remote Monitoring & Management (RMM) tools (Datto RMM is a plus).
• Experience with Autotask PSA is a plus.
• Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert (MS-102) is a plus.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) is a plus.
