Network Recruitment is seeking an experienced Professional Mechanical Engineer to join its technical team in Pretoria. The role combines onsite inspections, design oversight, and the delivery of high-quality technical reports and recommendations.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng or BSc) required.
• 57 years' post-qualification engineering experience.
• ECSA registration as Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or actively working towards registration.
• Experience with SolidWorks or other CAD software.
• Strong experience in mechanical engineering inspections, assessments or condition monitoring.
• Experience interpreting and applying international engineering standards and codes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong technical report-writing capabilities.
• Excellent communication and client liaison skills.
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Conduct onsite inspections and condition assessments of mechanical equipment and plant.
• Consolidate inspection findings and evaluate observations.
• Perform structural and mechanical assessments and provide engineering recommendations.
• Compile detailed technical reports and present findings to clients and stakeholders.
• Provide final technical review and sign-off on engineering work and reports.
• Manage, coordinate and oversee engineering inspection and design projects.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and inspection teams.
• Execute mechanical engineering design projects and associated calculations.
• Review engineering designs, drawings, calculations and manufacturing drawings.
• Conduct failure investigations and root cause analyses.
• Apply FEA and other engineering analysis techniques where required.
• Develop repair procedures and detailed Scopes of Work.
• Ensure compliance with standards, regulations and good engineering practice.
• Compile technical and commercial proposals.
• Liaise with clients and provide professional engineering advice and support.
• Participate in strategic planning and identify growth opportunities.
• Conduct training, masterclasses and technical seminars when required.
• Mentor Engineers in Training and junior staff development.
• Support quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.
