Placements24 is seeking a hands-on Power Plant Operations Technician for an on-site role in Upington. You will operate and monitor generation equipment, perform routine maintenance, respond to alarms, and maintain detailed logs to ensure reliable energy supply.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical or electrical aptitude, 2–4 years in industrial plant maintenance, and a strong commitment to safety and SOPs. The position requires shift work in a critical infrastructure facility.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a hands-on and diligent Power Plant Operations Technician to join their team at a facility in Upington. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of power generation equipment, monitoring plant performance, and conducting routine maintenance. You will play a critical part in ensuring the reliable supply of energy from the plant. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical or electrical aptitude, a commitment to safety, and experience working within an industrial or power generation environment. This role requires on-site presence to manage critical operational tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor power generation equipment, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
• Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on plant machinery.
• Respond promptly to alarms and operational upsets, taking corrective actions as needed.
• Maintain accurate logs of operational data, maintenance activities, and any incidents.
• Adhere strictly to all safety procedures and environmental regulations.

Requirements

• National Diploma or N3 qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent trade qualification.
