Placements24 is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join a power generation facility in Vereeniging, Gauteng. You will oversee electrical systems, perform preventive maintenance, and support upgrades to improve reliability and efficiency.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, compliant operations, manage spares, and respond to outages, contributing to South Africa's energy security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• At least 5 years in power generation or heavy industrial settings.
• Strong knowledge of power plant electrical systems: generators, transformers, switchgear, relays.
• Experience with high-voltage equipment and safety protocols.
• Ability to read and develop electrical schematics and single-line diagrams.
• Familiarity with power system analysis and troubleshooting techniques.
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
• Strong analytical and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to work overtime or shifts in Vereeniging.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems in the plant.
• Perform inspections and analyses to ensure reliability and performance.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs.
• Contribute to design, modification, and installation of new systems.
• Ensure compliance with safety, procedures, and environmental rules.
• Manage electrical spares inventory and procurement coordination.
• Respond to outages and emergencies to restore operations quickly.
• Analyze data to identify efficiency improvements and cost savings.
• Collaborate with other engineers and operations staff.
• Provide technical support during commissioning and start-up.
