Job summary

Ninety One is seeking a Portfolio Implementation professional to partner with portfolio managers and traders across Fixed Income, Equity and Multi Asset strategies in Cape Town. You will oversee trade orders from inception to completion, monitor asset allocations, and support currency hedging and cash flows to deliver client-aligned outcomes.

Ideal candidates bring 3+ years in asset management, strong Excel and Bloomberg skills, familiarity with multi-asset investments, and a proactive approach

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in asset management.
• Strong understanding of all asset classes: equity, money market, fixed income and derivative instruments.
• Experience with Charles River is highly advantageous.
• Proficiency in Excel and solid MS Office skills. VBA, Power BI and/or Python/SQL desirable.
• Familiarity with Bloomberg.

Responsibilities

• Partner with portfolio managers and traders to efficiently implement investment views across Fixed Income, Equity and Multi Asset portfolios
• Oversee trade orders from inception to completion
• Develop expertise in the order management system and seek to improve processes
• Handle oversight of fund cash flows, rebalancing, asset allocations, cash positions, and FX sweeps
• Manage currency hedging for all relevant portfolios, including rolls and adjustments
• Develop a deep understanding of investment mandates and monitor portfolio compliance with guidelines and regulatory restrictions
• Embrace AI tools to streamline legacy processes
• Manage portfolio transitions and restructures, delivering optimal outcomes for clients

About the team:

The Portfolio Implementation team models portfolio-manager-driven investment views, facilitates tactical trade instructions, monitors asset allocations and cash balances, and manages portfolio constructions and liquidations. The team works in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where accuracy and clear communication are paramount to success. The team collaborates closely with multiple departments across the business including portfolio managers, traders, operations, compliance and client onboarding.

In this role you will:

• Partner with portfolio managers and traders to efficiently implement investment views across Fixed Income, Equity and Multi Asset portfolios
• Oversee trade orders from inception to completion
• Develop expertise in the order management system and actively seek to improve processes
• Handle oversight of fund cash flows, rebalancing of portfolios, and ongoing monitoring of asset allocations, cash positions, and foreign exchange sweeps
• Manage currency hedging for all relevant portfolios, including necessary rolls and adjustments
• Develop a deep understanding of investment mandates and monitor portfolio compliance with investment guidelines and regulatory restrictions
• Embrace AI tools such as Claude, and use them to streamline legacy processes
• Manage portfolio transitions and restructures, delivering optimal outcomes for clients

You should consider applying if you have:

• 3+ years of experience in Asset Management
• Strong understanding of all asset classes: equity, money market, fixed income and derivative instruments
• Experience with Charles River is highly advantageous
• Demonstrated ability to participate in cross-functional projects and support timely execution, balancing multiple priorities and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
• Proven experience managing portfolio transitions, restructures, or asset transfers
• Proficiency in Excel, and a solid understanding of MS Office. VBA, Power BI and/or other coding skills desirable (Python/SQL)
• Familiarity with Bloomberg
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong investment knowledge with a keen interest in financial markets
• A meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
• Robust problem-solving abilities
