Job summary

Morton Moore Pty Ltd in Durban North, South Africa, seeks a Portfolio Manager / Broker Consultant to manage and grow an independent broker portfolio in the Durban region. The role sits at the intersection of sales and relationship management, aiming for profitable premium growth while upholding underwriting quality and service standards.

You will travel within the region to meet brokers, present our value proposition, negotiate terms, and support underwriters.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in SA short-term insurance, broker consulting or external sales.
• FAIS-compliant with FAIS qualifications and RE5 completed.
• Strong sales, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent written communication and proposal writing.

Responsibilities

• Manage, service and grow an allocated portfolio of independent brokers in the Durban region.
• Drive new business growth and retention across short-term insurance products.
• Schedule and conduct broker appointments, in-person and virtual.
• Educate brokers on value proposition, underwriting appetite and strategy.
• Monitor portfolio health and performance against targets; take corrective actions.
