Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety Officer for our client in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape. The role combines on-site oversight with remote reporting and program development to maintain high hygiene and safety standards across warehouse operations.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of four years in an EHS role, a relevant degree, and strong knowledge of SA EHS legislation. NEBOSH or similar certification is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Occupational Safety, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in an EHS role, preferably in logistics/warehousing.
• NEBOSH or similar certification is highly desirable.
• Based in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape or willing to commute.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies focusing on sanitation and hygiene.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits in Port Elizabeth.
• Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Deliver EHS training to employees at all levels, including safe handling of cleaning agents and waste management.
• Manage waste disposal and recycling programs.
• Ensure compliance with national and local EHS regulations and collaborate with operations.
• Maintain accurate EHS records and promote a strong safety culture.
• Participate in risk assessments for new processes or equipment.
