Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Polymer Science.
5+ years of experience in chemical process engineering, with polymer manufacturing.
Strong background in polymerization mechanisms and processing (extrusion, injection molding).
Experience with process control systems and data analysis tools.
Knowledge of quality control standards in polymer production.
Analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work in a hybrid environment.

Responsibilities

Oversee and optimize chemical processes for polymer production, including polymerization, extrusion, and compounding.
Monitor process parameters and analyze data to maximize yield and consistency.
Troubleshoot deviations, equipment malfunctions, and quality issues; identify root causes and corrective actions.
Collaborate with R&D on new product development and scale-up activities.
Ensure safety, environmental, and quality management compliance.
Develop SOPs and process documentation (P&IDs).
Participate in PHAs and implement safety measures.
Evaluate new technologies or equipment to improve efficiency.
Provide technical guidance to plant operators and maintenance staff.
Balance remote analysis with essential on-site operations in Vereeniging.
