Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Mechanical Engineer to lead plant and equipment maintenance strategies in Benoni. You will develop predictive and preventive maintenance programs, perform root cause analysis, and optimize reliability of pumps, compressors, and rotating equipment.

This role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and collaboration with operations and engineering teams in our South African industrial operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering focused on industrial maintenance.
• Proficiency in diagnostics, failure analysis and condition monitoring.
• Experience with pumps, compressors, and rotating equipment.
• Knowledge of CMMS and maintenance planning tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for industrial machinery.
• Conduct root cause analysis for mechanical failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Oversee repair, overhaul, and upgrade of plant equipment.
• Manage spare parts inventory and ensure timely procurement of components.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to optimize equipment reliability and performance.
