Placements24 is seeking an Industrial Engineer to optimize the plant layout and material flow at their Vereeniging facility in Gauteng. The role focuses on designing efficient physical configurations to boost productivity, reduce handling costs, and enhance safety using modeling and simulation techniques.

You will collaborate with operations, engineering, and facilities teams to translate requirements into spatial and workflow designs, leveraging CAD and simulation tools to deliver practical

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
• Experience in plant layout, facility design, and material flow optimization.
• Proficient in CAD software for layout design (AutoCAD or SolidWorks).
• Experience with simulation software (Arena, AnyLogic) is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and logistics.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage projects in a plant environment.
• Knowledge of ergonomics and workplace safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing plant layouts and material flow to identify bottlenecks.
• Design and redesign facility layouts to optimize space and production flow.
• Develop process flow diagrams, material handling strategies, and workstation designs.
• Use CAD and simulation tools to model layouts and evaluate impact.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations to meet production and safety requirements.
• Develop equipment placement plans and material flow routes.
• Estimate costs of layout changes and equipment modifications.
• Implement and oversee layout changes with minimal production disruption.
• Maintain documentation for layouts, material handling systems, and SOPs.
• Stay updated on new technologies and best practices in facility design.
