Job summary

Ikwezi Mining seeks a Pit Superintendent to manage all aspects of mining operations, ensuring safety compliance and driving production efficiency.

You will lead the mining team, plan production, monitor performance, and coordinate with other departments to resolve challenges while upholding safety standards. A Grade 12, blasting certificate, and relevant experience are required, with an advantage for a Mining Engineering diploma.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 is a minimum requirement.
• Opencast Blasting Certificate is required.
• National Diploma in Mining Engineering is an advantage.
• Experience in processing plants and mine planning is advantageous.
• Computer literacy in MS Office is expected.
• Knowledge of mining legislation and safety regulations is essential.
• Strong leadership, managerial, and communication skills are needed.
• A valid driver’s license and fitness to pass medical tests are required.

Purpose of the role: As a Pit Superintendent, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of mining operations, ensuring adherence to safety regulations, and driving operational efficiency. Lead and manage the mining operations, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Key responsibilities:

• Overseeing daily mining operations for enhanced efficiency and productivity
• Plan, organise, lead and monitor the production process
• Providing leadership and guidance to the mining team to achieve production targets
• Implementing, reinforcing, and ensuring compliance to safety standards and protocols
• Efficient people management harnessing collaboration and teamwork
• Collaborating with various departments to coordinate activities and resolve operational challenges
• Implementing best practices to improve overall pit performance
