Job summary

Placements24, on behalf of our Richards Bay client, seeks a skilled Process Development Scientist with a strong Chemical Engineering background to optimize and scale up chemical processes for advanced materials. You will design, execute, and analyze pilot-scale experiments to improve yield, efficiency, and safety in a demanding industrial setting.

The role requires a master's or PhD in Chemical Engineering, 5+ years in process development, and hands-on experience with reaction engineering,

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in chemical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of process development and scale-up experience.
• Strong knowledge of reaction engineering, thermodynamics and separation processes.
• Proficiency with Aspen Plus or HYSYS and data analysis tools.
• Experience with pilot plant operations and hazard analysis (HAZOP).

Responsibilities

• Design and run pilot-scale experiments to optimize chemical processes for yield, purity, and cost.
• Develop process control strategies to ensure product quality and safety.
• Analyze data, troubleshoot issues, and propose data-driven improvements.
• Scale processes from lab to pilot plant and support full-scale production.
• Collaborate with R&D, engineering and production teams for technology transfer.
