Placements24 is seeking a Pharmaceutical Quality Control Chemist for our Richards Bay facility. You will perform analytical testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or pharmaceutical sciences and 2+ years in QC or analytical lab, with hands-on experience using HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FT-IR, and dissolution testers.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and precise Pharmaceutical Quality Control Chemist to join their state-of-the-art facility in Richards Bay . In this hands-on role, you will perform a variety of analytical tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished pharmaceutical products to ensure they meet stringent quality and regulatory standards. Your attention to detail and expertise in analytical chemistry will be vital in maintaining product integrity and patient safety. This position requires a strong understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and quality control methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine and non-routine analytical testing of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products using various laboratory techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC, spectroscopy, titration).
• Develop, validate, and transfer analytical methods according to regulatory guidelines (e.g., ICH).
• Prepare and review laboratory documentation, including test methods, specifications, and analytical reports.
• Troubleshoot analytical instrumentation and laboratory procedures, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure calibration and maintenance schedules are followed.
• Participate in internal and external audits and ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
• Proven experience (2+ years) in pharmaceutical quality control or analytical chemistry laboratory.
• Proficiency with common analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FT-IR, and dissolution testers.
• Familiarity with GMP, pharmacopeial standards (USP, EP, BP), and regulatory requirements.
• Strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles and techniques.
• Excellent laboratory skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
