About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the Oil & Gas sector, is seeking a dedicated Petroleum Geologist to join their exploration team based in Centurion, Gauteng . This role is critical for identifying and evaluating potential hydrocarbon reserves. You will be responsible for analyzing geological data, interpreting seismic surveys, and mapping subsurface structures to pinpoint promising exploration targets. This is an on-site position, offering the chance to work within a collaborative team environment at our modern facilities. The successful candidate will leverage advanced geological software and methodologies to contribute to the company's growth strategy and ensure the responsible development of energy resources. Key Responsibilities

• Interpret geological data, including well logs, core samples, and geophysical surveys (seismic, gravity, magnetic).
• Develop detailed geological models and maps of subsurface structures and stratigraphy.
• Identify and evaluate potential hydrocarbon prospects based on geological criteria and risk assessment.
• Collaborate with geophysicists to integrate seismic data and interpretations.
• Work with reservoir engineers to define reservoir characteristics and potential for hydrocarbon recovery.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations on geological findings and exploration recommendations.
• Participate in technical review meetings and contribute to exploration strategy discussions.
• Maintain geological databases and ensure data quality and integrity.
• Stay updated on new geological techniques and technologies relevant to exploration.
• Conduct field work as required, including site visits and data acquisition support.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related Earth Science field; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in petroleum exploration geology.
• Proven experience in seismic data interpretation and structural geology.
• Proficiency with geological modeling software (e.g., Petrel, GeoGraphix, Kingdom Suite).
• Strong understanding of sedimentary basins, depositional environments, and petroleum systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
• Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex geological concepts clearly.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with South African geological contexts is advantageous.
• Willingness to travel domestically for field activities and industry events.
