Placements24 is seeking an experienced Process Design Engineer for its client in Pietermaritzburg to design, develop, and optimize chemical processes. The role entails conducting feasibility studies, running simulations, and producing detailed PFDs and P&IDs while ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and project timeliness.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in process design within the chemical or petrochemical industry, strong skills in Aspen Plus/HYSYS, and a solid grasp of reaction

Qualifications

• Requires a degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in process design within chemical/petrochemical sectors.
• Proficiency with process simulation tools (Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and strong knowledge of reaction engineering, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes from concept to full-scale implementation.
• Conduct feasibility studies and process simulations using advanced software tools.
• Prepare PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications.
• Collaborate with R&D, operations, and safety teams to ensure project success.
• Troubleshoot process issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure designs comply with environmental regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
• Conduct HAZOP studies and risk assessments.
• Evaluate and select process equipment and materials.
• Manage project timelines and budgets to meet deliverables.
• Maintain comprehensive design and process documentation.
