FNB Short Term Insurance in Randburg seeks an experienced Personal Lines Underwriter. You will evaluate and approve applications for personal insurance products and balance risk with business growth, while ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines and delivering exceptional client service.

The role requires strong analytical skills, a 5+ year track record in personal lines underwriting, RE5 qualification and FAIS compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in insurance, Risk Management, Finance, or related field.
• Relevant professional insurance qualifications.
• FAIS compliant and RE5 qualification.
• Minimum 5 years underwriting experience in personal lines.
• Commercial experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective service by obtaining correct medical and underwriting requirements telephonically and refer to Senior Underwriter for sign-off.
• Evaluate, analyse, and approve personal lines insurance applications (building, contents, motor, portables, personal liability).
• Balance risk assessment with business growth objectives while maintaining compliance with underwriting guidelines.
• Develop and maintain underwriting frameworks, policies, and procedures; provide guidance to brokers and internal teams.
• Collaborate with claims, actuarial, product development, and sales teams to align underwriting with market needs.
• Monitor performance metrics and implement process improvements to reduce turnaround times and increase productivity.
