Job summary

FNB South Africa invites an experienced Personal Lines Insurance Underwriter to join its Short Term Insurance team in Randburg. You will evaluate and approve applications, balance risk with growth, and ensure underwriting compliance. Develop frameworks, train brokers, and work with claims, actuarial, and product teams to improve efficiency.

Requirements: at least 5 years in personal lines underwriting, RE5 qualification, FAIS compliant; commercial experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in insurance, risk management, finance, or related field.
Minimum 5 years underwriting experience in personal lines.
RE5 qualification.
FAIS compliant; commercial experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

Evaluate, analyze, and approve personal lines insurance applications.
Develop and maintain underwriting frameworks, policies, and procedures.
Provide guidance to brokers and internal teams on underwriting criteria.
Leverage data analytics to streamline underwriting processes.
Collaborate with product development teams to align practices with market needs.
Monitor performance metrics and optimize workflows.
