Job summary

The University of the Free State invites applications for the Gardening Machine Operator (post level 18). Two permanent positions are available at the Bloemfontein Campus.

Responsibilities include operating mowing equipment, maintaining gardens and complying with health and safety standards, with a focus on reliability and following university procedures. Applicants should have Grade 10 (NQF Level 2) with relevant experience, a Grade 12 or NQF Level 4, and a machine operating certificate.

Qualifications

• Grade 10 on NQF Level 2 (attach proof).
• Relevant experience related to the duties and responsibilities as set out above.
• Grade 12 or national vocational certificate on NQF Level 4 (attach proof).
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience relating to the duties and responsibilities set out above.
• Experience in operating gardening equipment and machinery.
• Knowledge of applicable safety procedures.
• Machine operating certificate (attach a copy).

Responsibilities

• Operate mowing equipment and perform general gardening tasks.
• Ensure equipment is signed out and returned to store daily.
• Submit inspection reports weekly.
• Maintain gardens and terrain within working hours.
• Report breakages or loss of equipment to management.
• Adhere to daily program schedule and line manager instructions.
• Complete schedule according to standards and procedures.
• Assist with general gardening and refuse maintenance.
• Report feedback to line manager and sign off maintenance program.
