Job summary

Faircape Life seeks a dedicated Groundsman to maintain lush gardens, beds, trees and lawns at Cle Du Cap in the Southern Suburbs. You will help ensure a beautiful, welcoming estate for residents, with tasks spanning pruning, lawn care, irrigation, refuse duties and general maintenance.

The role requires knowledge of plants, gardening techniques and horticultural machinery; a health-and-safety mindset and the ability to lift heavy objects are essential.

Qualifications

• Matric advantageous.
• 1 year’s relevant experience in a similar role.
• Knowledge of plants and gardening techniques.
• Knowledge of horticultural machinery and tools (advantageous).
• Knowledge of irrigation systems (advantageous).
• Ability to perform basic grounds maintenance tasks.
• Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
• Understanding of health & safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Pruning trees and shrubs and maintaining beds.
• Turning over plant beds and lawn care.
• Weeding, watering, and general garden upkeep.
• Inspecting and cleaning tools and machinery.
• Refuse collection and waste sorting.
• Cleaning workshop/canteen and surrounding areas.
• Sweep and tidy courtyards and paved surfaces.
• Monitor perimeter vegetation and assist in basic maintenance.

We are seeking a dedicated Groundsman to join our team at Cle Du Cap in the Southern Suburbs. You will be responsible for maintaining lush gardens, vibrant flowerbeds, healthy trees, and immaculate lawns, ensuring the estate remains beautiful, well-kept and welcoming for our residents.

Garden Maintenance:

• Pruning of trees and overgrown shrubs
• Reinstate plant beds and garden redevelopment
• Turning over of plant beds
• Cutting of grass and trimming
• Weeding
• Hand/additional watering when required

Tools & Machinery:

• Inspecting tools before and after use (lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, brush-cutters)
• Cleaning all tools at the end of each days use
• Oil and sharpen blades of all cutting equipment

Refuse:

• Collecting of household refuse
• Sorting recyclable waste from general waste
• Cleaning and sanitising refuse bins
• Loading of garden-waste for disposal

Housekeeping/General:

• Clean workshop/canteen
• Clean around Body Corporate Reception, externally
• Open external dining area and courtyard umbrellas, weather permitting
• Clean grounds around security kiosk
• Inspect perimeter fence for weeds / vegetation, once per week
• Spray perimeter fence for weeds / vegetation, once per month

General Maintenance:

• Sweep synthetic turf in courtyards
• Sweep paved surfaces in courtyards
• Sweep paved area around Healthcare
• Collect leaves in courtyards

Qualifications

Working hours:

Mondays to Fridays from 08h00 until 17h00 with a 45 minute lunch break. Faircape offers a market related salary. The salary will be dependable on experience, qualifications, skills and attributes.
