Cape Peninsula University of Technology is seeking two Grass Cutting Operators for internal vacancies across all campuses. The role focuses on high-standard garden and ground maintenance including grass cutting, hedge trimming, weeding, spraying and pruning.

Qualifications include Grade 12 and a Certificate in Brushcutter/Chainsaw, plus at least two years of mowing and garden maintenance experience. The job is permanent and located across all CPUT campuses.

Responsabilités

• Operate lawn mowing machinery and perform daily maintenance
• Apply fertiliser by hand and with machines
• Receive tasks from Grass Cutting Supervisor and ensure timely completion
• Maintain gardens by cleaning, watering, weeding and pruning
• Perform other tasks as assigned by Foreman or Head of Department

Job Purpose

Carry out a high standard of garden and clearance work to include but not limited to grass cutting,trimming of grass andhedge cutting, weeding, spraying and tree pruning of all CPUT premises

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Matric/Grade 12 or Equivalent NQF
• Brushcutter and Chainsaw Operator Certificate
• At least two (2) years mowing machine operation & general garden maintenance

Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities

• Operating lawn mowing machinery
  Daily basic service of equipment and machinery
  Safe and correct operation of tools and equipment to perform the required daily mowing tasks.
  Knowledge of correct mowing procedure for different machine types.
  Knowledge of correct mowing requirements for different lawn types.
• Fertilization
  Knowledge of how to apply fertilizer by hand and using push fertilization machines
• Internal Liaison
  Receive tasks from Grass Cutting Supervisor and ensure tasks are carried out. Monitor progress to
  ensure correct and timeous completion of tasks.
• General garden maintenance Clean gardens and remove rubbish Treat pests and diseases on plants
  Thin out flowerbeds.
  Clean equipment such as tools, lawn mowers. Remove dead plants out of flowerbeds
  Maintain plants and gardens by watering, weeding and mowing lawns
  Maintain gardens by trimming and making sure that plants are receiving adequate water Assist with
  cleaning of drainage systems
  Clean water features and pumps.
  Any Landscape related task that does not require high level of decision making
• Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Foreman or Head of Department
• Ability to work independently
