Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Performance Analyst for a premier rugby union club based in the Western Cape. The role focuses on analyzing training and match performances to provide actionable insights.

You will capture, code, and analyze video and statistics, identify tactical trends, and present findings clearly to coaches and players. Travel with the team and work irregular hours are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Sports Science, Performance Analysis, Statistics, or a related field.
• Master's degree is advantageous.
• 3-5 years of experience as a Performance Analyst, preferably within professional rugby union.
• Proficiency in performance analysis software such as Hudl Sportscode, Nacsport, or similar platforms.
• Strong understanding of rugby union tactics, rules, and technical requirements.
• Excellent data analysis and statistical interpretation skills.
• Advanced video editing and presentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with coaches and players.
• Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive problem-solving approach.
• Flexibility to travel with the team and work irregular hours, including weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Record, code, and analyze video footage of training sessions and matches using specialized performance analysis software.
• Provide comprehensive statistical analysis of team and individual performance, including key metrics, trends, and patterns.
• Prepare and deliver detailed performance reports and presentations to coaches and players before, during, and after matches.
• Identify tactical strengths and weaknesses of both the team and opposition.
• Collaborate with coaching staff to translate analysis into training strategies and game plans.
• Develop and maintain databases of performance statistics and video clips.
• Assist in objective evaluation of player performance and development.
• Stay current with advancements in performance analysis techniques, technology, and best practices in rugby union.
• Manage and maintain all performance analysis equipment and software.
• Contribute to the development of a strong performance analysis culture within the club.
