Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a prominent professional rugby union club based in Paarl , is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Performance Analyst. This role is integral to the success of the team, involving detailed analysis of training sessions and match performances to provide actionable insights for coaches and players. You will be responsible for capturing, coding, and analyzing video and statistical data, identifying tactical trends, and presenting findings clearly and concisely. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of rugby union, exceptional analytical abilities, and proficiency with performance analysis software. Key Responsibilities

• Record, code, and analyze video footage of training sessions and matches using specialized performance analysis software.
• Provide comprehensive statistical analysis of team and individual performance, including key metrics, trends, and patterns.
• Prepare and deliver detailed performance reports and presentations to coaches and players before, during, and after matches.
• Identify tactical strengths and weaknesses of both the team and opposition.
• Collaborate closely with the coaching staff to translate analysis into effective training strategies and game plans.
• Develop and maintain databases of performance statistics and video clips.
• Assist in the objective evaluation of player performance and development.
• Stay current with advancements in performance analysis techniques, technology, and best practices in rugby union.
• Manage and maintain all performance analysis equipment and software.
• Contribute to the development of a strong performance analysis culture within the club.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Sports Science, Performance Analysis, Statistics, or a related field.
• A Master's degree is advantageous.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Performance Analyst, preferably within professional rugby union.
• Proficiency in using performance analysis software such as Hudl Sportscode, Nacsport, or similar platforms.
• Strong understanding of rugby union tactics, rules, and technical requirements.
• Excellent data analysis and statistical interpretation skills.
• Advanced video editing and presentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaunt effectively with coaches and players.
• Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Flexibility to travel with the team and work irregular hours, including weekends and evenings.
