Job summary

Maersk is looking for a People Operations Advisor to join our team in Cape Town, South Africa. You will be the first point of contact for HR queries, provide guidance on policies, and manage the full employee lifecycle from hire to retire with compliance.

You will support on-site employees, build relationships across the business, and collaborate with regional and global teams to deliver high-quality people services. A Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
• At least 2 years' experience in HR, People Operations, or a similar advisory role.
• Strong customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work with empathy, professionalism, and sound judgement.
• Experience with Workday or another HCM system is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for HR queries via case management, chat, phone, and face-to-face support.
• Provide guidance on HR policies, processes, and HR systems.
• Manage the full employee lifecycle from Hire to Retire including compliance activities and documentation.
• Champion an employee-first approach and demonstrate operational excellence.
• Collaborate with regional and global teams to deliver high-quality People services.
