Job summary

Nedbank is seeking a Manager Payments Account Maintenance to lead the Payments OCR operation, delivering accurate and controlled payment processes within agreed service levels. The role focuses on people leadership, risk management, governance and continuous improvement.

You will drive performance metrics, report to senior leadership, and build a high-performance team capable of managing payments in a controlled, compliant environment. This front-line leadership position is based in Johannesburg.

Qualifications

• Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate is required.
• Preferred qualification in Business Management, Operations Management, Banking, Finance, Commerce or related discipline.
• Proven operational management experience within banking, payments or a similarly controlled environment.
• Experience leading and developing teams and in performance management and reporting.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; strong stakeholder-management capability.
• Strong knowledge of operational risk, governance and controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee day-to-day Payments OCR operations.
• Ensure activities are completed accurately, timeously and within service levels and cut-off times.
• Manage workload, capacity, operational queues and payment exceptions.
• Monitor performance and implement corrective actions where required.
• Ensure consistent execution of approved payment processes, procedures and business rules.
• Lead, coach and develop employees to achieve objectives and build a high-performance culture.
• Identify development needs and support succession and talent development.
• Manage employee relations matters in line with HR policies.
• Identify opportunities to improve, simplify and automate operational processes.
