Job summary

South African National Parks (SANParks) invites applications for a General Worker at Addo Elephant National Park, Matyholweni Section. The role reports to the Duty Manager and requires Grade 12 (Matric) or NCV Level 4, plus 1–2 years in a general worker, tourism or hospitality setting.

The successful candidate will assist with day-to-day operations, maintenance, cleaning and guest services, and must be able to work weekends and varied shifts while upholding safety procedures and service

Qualifications

• Grade 12 (Matric), NCV Level 4 certificate or equivalent.
• 1–2 years' practical work experience in general worker, tourism or hospitality.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Good interpersonal and customer-service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to follow instructions, policies and Occupational Health and Safety procedures.
• Good time-management and organisational skills.
• Basic knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety.
• Willingness to work weekends, public holidays and varying shifts.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in tourism facilities including public areas, offices and guest spaces.
• Assist with cleaning chalets, huts, kitchens and other guest facilities.
• Collect and dispose of refuse; keep waste areas clean.
• Assist with grounds maintenance; sweep, clear vegetation and maintain pathways.
• Assist with basic maintenance tasks such as painting and minor repairs.
• Report faults to the relevant department and assist with stock handling.
• Support preparation and maintenance of facilities before and after guest arrivals.
• Follow safety, environmental and organisational procedures.
