Job summary

Phoenix Recruitment is seeking an experienced Painter/Facilities Maintenance Technician to maintain and restore the visual appeal of hotel buildings in Pretoria. You will perform professional painting on interiors and exteriors, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, and assist the Facilities Manager in upkeep and decor improvements.

We require 3–5 years in professional painting, a relevant trade certificate preferred, Matric, and a valid driver’s license.

Job description

Duties

• Maintain and restore the visual appearance of the hotel buildings, interiors, and exteriors through professional painting and finishing work.


• Ensure all painting and maintenance activities comply with established safety, quality, and environmental standards.


• Assist the Facilities Manager in ensuring the continual upkeep and improvement of the propertys décor and finishes.


• Deliver efficient, timely, and cost-effective execution of painting projects, both preventative and corrective.

Requirements

• National Senior Certificate (Matric) or equivalent (Essential).


• Recognised trade test or certificate in painting, finishing, or related maintenance discipline preferred.


• Minimum 3-5 years of professional painting experience, preferably in a hotel, resort, or high-end property maintenance environment.


• Health and Safety training or certification would be an advantage.


• Valid drivers license and own reliable transport (Essential).


• Proven track record of executing both routine maintenance and special refurbishment projects.


• Proficient in painting, varnishing, and wallpaper application.


• Skilled in basic repair work (e.g., plastering, filling cracks, sealing).


• Competent in the use of hand tools and painting equipment.


• Ability to mix and match colours to maintain uniform finishes.


• Attention to detail and precision in workmanship.


• Understanding of surface preparation, paint types, colour application techniques, and finishing standards.


• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to painting and maintenance work.


• Familiarity with maintenance scheduling and property management systems (advantageous).
