Job summary

Amrod in Woodmead is seeking a Pad 1 Colour Operator (Night Shift) to oversee and coordinate pad department machines. The role requires strong digital printing knowledge and the ability to maintain quality and efficiency in a busy manufacturing setting.

You will operate print presses, perform routine maintenance, minimize wastage, and ensure accurate colour and layout on each job card. The position demands reliability, teamwork and willingness to work night shifts and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent required.
• 2–4 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Proficient computer skills and English communication.
• Strong knowledge of digital printing processes.
• Good problem solving and conflict resolution abilities.
• Willing to work overtime, weekends and shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate the operations of the machines in the Pad department.
• Operate print machines effectively and monitor production.
• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance for print presses.
• Ensure correct materials are used and minimize wastage.
• Complete QC checks on layouts and ensure print accuracy.
• Maintain production records and downtime logs.
• Review Job Cards for colour, orientation and quantities.
• Assist other positions/departments as required by operations.
• Report unsafe acts and uphold production targets.

Job Description

Job Purpose

• To oversee and coordinate the operations of the machines in the Pad department.

Key Performance Areas

• Effectively operate print machines.
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance to ensure print presses are in good working order.
• Ensure that correct materials are used effectively, and that wastage is minimized as far as possible.
• Fill in the QC block on layout correctly and check each one in full before commenting in the block paying attention to detail and quality.
• Keep accurate records of production output and any downtime
• Inspect all Job Cards ensuring accuracy of colours, orientation and position of print and qty’s required.
• Assist in other positions and/or departments in accordance with operational requirements.
• Report unsafe acts.
• Maintain production rates according to defined targets and deadlines.

Job Requirements

Minimum Skills and Knowledge Required

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 to 4 years’ experience in a similar position and/or environment.
• Computer literacy skills.
