Job summary

ATS Client in Cape Town, South Africa, seeks a Senior Oracle DBA for a contract role to design, implement, maintain and optimize Oracle databases across prod, test, and dev environments.

You will ensure high availability, security, and performance, mentor junior DBAs, and collaborate with cross‑functional IT teams. The role requires 5+ years of Oracle DBA experience and expertise with 12c/19c architectures.

Qualifications

• Matric and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or IT.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as an Oracle DBA.
• Expertise in Oracle 12c/19c architecture, administration, and performance tuning.
• Strong understanding of Oracle Enterprise Manager.
• Experience with Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases and Microsoft SQL Server is a plus.
• Certifications such as OCP (Oracle Certified Professional) are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain Oracle databases including RAC, Data Guard, and ASM.
• Perform database tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Implement and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
