Responsibilities

• Slicer Operator communicates any problems with incoming Operator and Supervisor.
• Check metal detector reject box and ensure that it is locked.
• Check printer.
• Ensure dates printed are correct.
• If in doubt, speak to your Supervisor.
• Check the Kwiklok on the bags.
• Ensure the bag is locked firmly.
• Check seal on bag.
• Ensure that the seal is good. No big holes.
• Check the bag tensioner.
• Ensure that it is not tearing the bags.
• Check and ensure that you have enough bags and Kwikloks.
• Packaging trolley is located in its designated place and neatly packed.
• Monitor batch counter for slicer blade changing (+/- 23 000 loaves).
• Keep machine and surrounding area neat and clean; practice good housekeeping.
• Follow FIFO packaging usage from stores and trolley.
• At end of shift, return stock bags to Packaging trolley.
• Monitor conveyors from Cooler out to Slicing to prevent squashed bread.
• Monitor product quality and remove substandard product.
• Monitor machine operation.
• Ensure no damages are created.
• Monitor packaging quality throughout shift.
• Check slice evenness of the bread throughout shift; request adjustments as required.
• Only trained Operators shall operate the metal detectors.
• Ensure CLEAR date coding is printed on bag.
• Packaging ready and available to avoid delays during change overs.
• Machine safety guards are in place and working.
• Report deviations to your Fitter and Supervisor for immediate repair.
• Report temporary fixings to your Supervisor to speed up repair.
• Metal Detectors to be checked hourly.
• Adhere to Safe Work procedures and Good Work Practices at all times.
• Adhere to the Food safety policy.
• Perform any reasonable work-related duty as requested by the Supervisor.
• Active participation in internal forums e.g. INVOCOMS, Training interventions, Employee engagement sessions.

• Packaging usage should follow the FIFO system, from stores and from trolley.
• At the end of a shift, all stock bags should be returned to Packaging trolley.
• Monitor conveyors from Cooler out to Slicing to prevent squashed bread.
• Monitor product quality and remove substandard product.
• Monitor machine operation.
• Ensure that no damages are created
• Monitor packaging quality throughout shift.
• Check the slice evenness of the bread throughout shift, request if adjustments are required.
• Only trained Operators shall be allowed to operate the metal detectors.
• Ensure CLEAR date coding is printed on bag.
• Ensure that packaging is ready and available to avoid delays during change overs.
• Ensure that the machine is safe and all safety guards are in place and in good working order.
• Report to your Fitter and Supervisor, if there are any deviations to be repaired immediately.
• Report all temporary fixings to your Supervisor to speed up repair.
• Metal Detectors to be checked hourly.
• Ensure Safe Work procedures and Good Work Practices are adhered to at all times.
• Adhere to the Food safety policy.
• Perform any reasonable work -related duty as requested by the Supervisor.
• Active participation in internal forums e.g. INVOCOMS, Training interventions, Employee engagement sessions.
