Job summary

Mr Price Group Limited is seeking an Operations Manager to lead and support a team of Area Managers across the Southern Gauteng region, driving operational performance, store success, and exceptional customer experiences. The role requires a retail leadership background, strong commercial acumen, and proven ability to coach teams, manage budgets, and optimize stock and processes.

Regular travel within the region is expected to keep stores aligned to brand standards and profitability.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Retail Management or related field is advantageous; equivalent leadership experience considered.
• Proven experience in an Operations Manager or Area Manager role in a similar retail environment.
• Strong commercial acumen to interpret data and drive business decisions.
• Track record of leading teams through coaching, development and performance management.
• Analytical and problem-solving capability with drive for continuous improvement.
• Retail apparel experience is advantageous.
• Willingness to travel regularly within the region.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and support a team of Area Managers to deliver strong operational performance across the region.
• Drive sales performance by ensuring forecasts are set, executed, and achieved.
• Manage regional budgets and controllable expenses to deliver profitability targets.
• Ensure stores deliver an exceptional and consistent customer experience aligned to the brand.
• Oversee the implementation and compliance of store processes, standards, and operational controls.
• Use store insights, customer feedback, and market analysis to identify opportunities and provide feedback to buying/planning teams.
• Develop and empower regional support roles and store leadership through coaching and performance management.
• Communicate key performance indicators regularly to keep teams informed and aligned.
• Identify operational challenges and proactively implement cost-saving and efficiency improvements.
• Monitor stock availability and markdown performance to maximize sales opportunities.
• Ensure stores are optimally staffed to support service delivery and cost efficiency.

• Identify operational challenges and proactively implement cost-saving and efficiency improvements
• Monitor stock availability and markdown performance across the region, ensuring stock is balanced to maximize sales opportunities
• Ensure stores are optimally staffed to support service delivery, productivity, and cost efficiency

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Retail Management, Business Management, Commerce, Operations Management, or a related field is advantageous. Equivalent retail leadership experience will also be considered.
• Proven experience in an Operations Manager or Area Manager role within a similar-sized retail environment
• Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to interpret data, identify opportunities, and make sound business decisions
• A track record of leading teams to deliver results through coaching, development, and performance management
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with the confidence to challenge the status quo and drive continuous improvement
• Retail apparel experience will be highly advantageous
• Willingness to travel regularly to stores within the region
