ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for an Operations Manager to oversee our end-to-end service delivery, from installation to aftercare. You will ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This role is about driving efficiency, maintaining quality, and leading a team to execute daily operations smoothly. You will be the key link between the field teams and senior leadership, solving problems and removing roadblocks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Financial & Budget Management
- Own the operations budget (OPEX) and protect profit margins.
- Track spending closely and find practical ways to reduce fuel and operational costs without sacrificing quality.
- Approve purchases within set limits, ensuring every expense is necessary and policy‑compliant.
2. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all sites and vehicles meet legal safety standards (OHS).
- Lead safety training and enforce strict safety protocols for installations and driver behavior.
- Investigate any safety incidents thoroughly and implement fixes to prevent recurrence.
3. Process Improvement & Strategy
- Use Lean or Six Sigma methods to cut waste and streamline workflows.
- Improve route planning to get the best use out of our fleet and reduce delays.
- Set clear quarterly goals for the team and ensure we hit them.
4. Facilities & Maintenance
- Oversee maintenance contractors to keep all facilities safe and fully operational.
- Coordinate shared resources (equipment, vehicles, staff) across departments to maximize efficiency.
- Lead, mentor, and manage direct reports, including hiring and performance reviews.
- Remove obstacles so your team can do their best work.
- Ensure clear communication between installation crews, aftercare teams, and support staff.
- Work closely with Sales, Marketing, and Finance to ensure we deliver what we promise to customers.
- Act as the main point of contact for resolving issues that span multiple departments.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Preferred Education: Post Matric Qualification in related field
- Experience: 8+ years in operations management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Certification: Six Sigma Green/Black Belt (or willingness to obtain within 12 months).
