Job summary

Srg Recruitment (Pty) Ltd is seeking an experienced Operations Manager in Briardene, Durban to lead stock control, purchasing and operational processes. You will own stock costing, supplier negotiations and logistics while driving efficiency and automation across the business.

The role reports to the MD and offers autonomy to improve systems, support growth, and strengthen financial performance through hands-on management.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–6 years of operational management experience.
• Strong financial understanding including P&L monitoring, cash flow and costing.
• Experience in stock control, purchasing, supplier management and operational processes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee stock management, purchasing, supplier negotiations, freight logistics and inventory planning.
• Manage stock costing, pricing, price lists and quarterly stocktakes.
• Monitor financial performance including P&L, cash flow and FX movements.
• Oversee administrative functions, sales reporting, and CRM systems.
• Identify and implement process improvements, automation and new technologies.
• Manage escalated customer disputes, warranty issues and regulatory submissions.
• Support business expansion, technology implementation and operational continuity.
• Oversee administrative controls, staff leave and continuity of key functions.

Location: Briardene, Durban

An established and growing business within the industrial equipment distribution sector is seeking an experienced Operations Manager with strong financial acumen and a hands-on approach to operational management. The successful candidate will take ownership of stock control, purchasing and operational processes, while identifying opportunities to improve systems, implement new technologies and support business growth.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is a key role within an owner-managed business, offering significant autonomy and the opportunity to make a direct impact on operational efficiency and overall business performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee stock management, purchasing, supplier negotiations, freight logistics and inventory planning
• Manage stock costing, pricing, price lists and quarterly stocktakes

• Oversee administrative functions, sales and service reporting, and CRM systems

• Oversee administrative controls, staff leave and the continuity of key business functions

Minimum Requirements:

• Relevant formal qualification
• Approximately 5-6 years of relevant operational management experience
• Strong financial understanding, including P&L monitoring, cash flow and costing
• Experience in stock control, purchasing, supplier management and operational processes
• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills
• A systems-oriented approach, with an interest in automation, technology and process improvement
