Job summary

Express Employment Professionals Midrand seeks an experienced Operations Manager to lead production, processing, and dispatch in a manufacturing setting. The role focuses on OTIF delivery, cost control, and safety, with demand for strong leadership and stakeholder management.

You will oversee ISO 9001/14001/45001 compliance, manage maintenance, fleets, and expatriate workforce administration, and partner with senior leadership to drive growth and profitability.

Qualifications

• Degree or tertiary qualification in Engineering, Production Management, Operations Management, or a related field
• Minimum 10 years' experience within a manufacturing, processing, or factory environment
• At least 5 years' management experience overseeing production and operational functions
• Experience within the reinforcing steel, cut-and-bend, steel processing, or steel fabrication industry will be highly advantageous
• Proven experience working within ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management systems
• Experience managing multicultural, expatriate, and diverse workforces
• Strong leadership, planning, problem-solving, and organisational skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
• Willingness to relocate to Mauritius

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and manage production, processing, and dispatch activities to ensure customer orders and project schedules are met
• Drive operational performance through the achievement of On-Time In-Full (OTIF) delivery targets, production schedule adherence, cost-per-ton objectives, and scrap/offcut reduction initiatives
• Maintain compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards and lead internal and external audit processes
• Champion health, safety, environmental, and quality initiatives, including risk assessments, toolbox talks, PPE compliance, incident investigations, and corrective actions
• Oversee preventative and planned maintenance programs for plant equipment, cranes, lifting machinery, and company facilities
• Manage the company vehicle fleet, transport operations, and associated costs while ensuring full compliance with road traffic and transport regulations
• Lead the recruitment, development, training, performance management, and discipline of operational staff
• Develop skills matrices and succession plans to support workforce development and operational continuity
• Manage expatriate workforce administration, including work permits, contracts, accommodation arrangements, employee welfare, and repatriation processes
• Prepare, monitor, and control operational budgets to ensure cost-effective resource utilization
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity, efficiency, quality, and profitability
• Ensure effective utilization of ArmaPlus and Syspro systems for operational planning, reporting, and performance management
• Collaborate closely with senior leadership to support business growth, customer satisfaction, and strategic objectives
