Job summary

Express Employment Professionals Midrand is seeking a senior operations executive to drive the business's P&L, growth, and efficiency. You will lead rolling mill operations, manage procurement and working capital, and ensure ISO/SHEQ compliance while building a high-performing management team.

The role requires extensive senior management experience in steel or heavy manufacturing, strong commercial acumen, and willingness to relocate to Mauritius where required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related Industrial discipline.
• Minimum 10 years' experience within the steel, rolling mill, or heavy manufacturing industry.
• At least 5 years' experience in a senior management or General Management role.
• Proven experience managing P&L, budgeting, financial performance, and working capital.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience in sales, pricing strategies, procurement, imports, and trade finance.
• Sound knowledge of SHEQ systems and ISO standards.
• Excellent leadership, decision-making, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong business development and operational management capabilities.
• Willingness to undergo annual medical examinations, including eye, hearing, and lung assessments.
• Must be willing to relocate to Mauritius.

Responsibilities

• Assume full accountability for the business's profit and loss performance, including revenue growth, operating costs, gross margins, and EBITDA.
• Develop and execute the company's strategic business plans, annual budgets, and operational objectives.
• Drive production efficiency, product quality, plant reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead rolling mill operations, maintenance strategies, and production planning to achieve output and quality targets.
• Manage sales growth, pricing strategies, tender processes, and key customer relationships to expand market share.
• Oversee procurement activities, ensuring the cost-effective sourcing of billets, consumables, spares, and imported materials.
• Manage working capital, debtor and creditor functions, foreign exchange exposure, loans, and letters of credit.
• Ensure compliance with all SHEQ requirements and maintain ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 certifications while driving additional accreditation initiatives.
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing management team and workforce.
• Promote a positive workplace culture and maintain effective labour relations.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, financial institutions, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders.
• Monitor business performance and implement strategies to improve profitability, operational efficiency, and sustainability.
