Upmarket and well-known Home Décor Retail Brand is seeking an experienced OPERATIONS CONTROLLER to join their team in Stickland, Cape Town. We are looking for a vibrant individual who is passionate about homeware/décor, with excellent retail sales experience. The main purpose of the role is to oversee and optimise operational processes across our Coastal Showrooms. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving stock accuracy, operational compliance, showroom standards, and continuous improvement initiatives to support business performance, profitability, and exceptional customer experience. It might be required to work on Saturdays from time to time. The Operations Controller must have a valid drivers license and his / her own vehicle. Start: Immediate.

Main Function of the Operations Controller

• Coordinating, planning, and managing stock takes across Coastal Showrooms and warehouses (if applicable).
• Analysing stock variances, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
• Monitoring and improving inventory management processes and controls.
• Driving operational efficiency through process improvement and best practice implementation.
• Overseeing showroom sample approvals (appros), tracking, documentation, and compliance.
• Conducting showroom operational audits and ensuring policy adherence.
• Managing monthly operational and compliance checklists and following up on corrective actions.
• Supporting and guiding showroom teams on inventory control procedures and operational standards.
• Maintaining operational manuals, guidelines, and standard operating procedures.
• Developing and implementing strategies to manage discontinued, flawed, and shop-soiled stock.
• Monitoring stock clearance initiatives and reporting on performance and recovery outcomes.
• Producing operational, inventory, and compliance reports for management.

Operations Controller Requirements:

• Experience required : Minimum 3 years’ experience in retail operations, stock control or supply chain management. Experience working within a multi-branch retail environment. Experience working with POS systems such as Syspro, SAGE or similar. We are looking for someone with advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills and a strong understanding of retail stock control and inventory management principles.
• Education background required for the Operations Controller : National Senior Certificate and a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Retail Management or Accounting.
• Retail specific : If you are a natural interior designer and love to keep on track with the current homeware and décor trends this is the job for you! We seek an Operations Controller that has the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and influence stakeholders with a proven ability to drive operations improvements and process standardisation.
• Interpersonal skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and high attention to detail and accuracy. The Operations Controller needs to have strong organisational and project coordination. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Looking for someone that is self-motivated, proactive and results-oriented.
