Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Retail Stock Controller for an Upington, Northern Cape store. The role focuses on inventory accuracy, counts, and efficient stock turnover to support sales targets.

You will implement controls to reduce shrinkage, manage receipts and dispatches, and work with the sales team on forecasts. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience with ERP/inventory software in a retail setting.

Qualifications

• Experience as Stock Controller, Inventory Clerk, or similar role.
• Strong understanding of inventory management principles and stocktaking procedures.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high accuracy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and organized Retail Stock Controller to manage inventory accuracy and efficiency at their store in Upington, Northern Cape . This role is fundamental to the smooth operation of the retail business, ensuring that stock levels are maintained accurately, minimizing discrepancies, and supporting sales targets through effective inventory management. You will be responsible for overseeing stock counts, managing incoming and outgoing inventory, and implementing procedures to reduce shrinkage and optimize stock turnover. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, possesses strong analytical skills, and has a solid understanding of inventory management principles within a retail setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular stock counts and cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
• Investigate and reconcile discrepancies between physical stock and system records.
• Manage the receiving and dispatching of goods, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.
• Implement and enforce stock control procedures to minimize shrinkage, damage, and obsolescence.
• Monitor stock levels and provide regular reports to management on inventory status, turnover, and potential issues.
• Work with the sales team to forecast stock needs and ensure adequate availability of popular items.
• Maintain a clean and organized stockroom or warehouse area.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies related to inventory management and loss prevention.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Stock Controller , Inventory Clerk, or in a similar inventory management role.
• Strong understanding of inventory management principles, stocktaking procedures, and ERP/inventory software.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
