Placements24 is seeking a Lead Mining Operations Superintendent for an on-site role near Randburg, Gauteng. You will oversee all daily mining activities, lead a large team of supervisors, and drive safety, efficiency and cost control initiatives in a major mining operation.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of progressive mining operations management experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role, and a strong background in planning, scheduling and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a relevant discipline.
• Diploma with extensive mining experience may be considered.
• 10+ years progressive mining ops management experience, 5+ in supervisory role.
• Experience leading large teams in open pit or underground mining.
• Strong mine planning, scheduling and execution knowledge.
• Excellent safety regulations knowledge and leadership skills.
• Proficiency with mine ops software and reporting systems.
• Willing to work full-time on-site in Randburg and adhere to shift requirements.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all day-to-day mining operations (drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, ground support).
• Ensure compliance with mine plan, safety regulations and environmental standards.
• Lead and develop mine supervisors, shift bosses and operations staff.
• Monitor KPIs for safety, production, cost and equipment utilization; take corrective actions.
• Foster safety culture and proactive hazard identification.
• Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, geology and HSE to optimize operations.
• Oversee resource allocation and budget adherence to production targets.
• Investigate incidents and implement preventative measures.
• Contribute to short- and mid-term production planning.
• Manage operation budgets and cost control.
