Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Mine Maintenance Superintendent to lead the on-site maintenance operations near Mahikeng. You will develop and implement maintenance strategies for heavy mobile equipment and fixed plant, lead a team of technicians, and ensure safety and environmental standards.

The role focuses on minimizing downtime, maximizing asset life, budgeting, and applying CMMS best practices, with opportunities for professional development and a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years in heavy industrial or mining equipment maintenance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance management systems (CMMS) and best practices.
• Proven experience in managing budgets, teams, and complex maintenance projects.
• Excellent understanding of safety regulations and environmental compliance in a mining context.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic maintenance plans, including preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for all mining equipment.
• Manage and supervise a team of maintenance supervisors, technicians, and tradespeople, ensuring efficient work allocation and high-quality workmanship.
• Oversee the maintenance workshop, inventory management for spare parts, and procurement processes.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted in strict adherence to safety regulations and environmental standards.
• Analyze equipment performance data to identify trends, predict failures, and implement proactive solutions.
• Manage maintenance budgets, control costs, and optimize resource allocation for maximum efficiency.
