Job summary

Astral Foods Ltd, through National Chicks, in Pietermaritzburg, is seeking a Nightshift Supervisor to uphold quality, hygiene, biosecurity and operational standards across our broiler farms.

You will lead, plan and control production activities, manage staff, ensure documentation, and drive continuous improvement, including 20 Keys principles, risk and safety, within a dynamic poultry operation of the Astral Group.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 education is required.
• At least 3 years broiler experience.
• Strong motivation and performance-driven.
• Team player with people-management ability.
• Pro-active with strong communication and leadership skills.
• Commitment to quality, hygiene, biosecurity, and continuous improvement.
• Willingness to work irregular hours including night shifts, weekends and holidays.

Role Overview

National Chicks, a leading international supplier of poultry within the Astral Group, is seeking a Nightshift Supervisor whom will be responsible for maintaining and continuously improving quality, hygiene, biosecurity and operational standards within our Broiler Farms.

Role Responsibilities

• The planning, organising, leading and control of all aspects and duties assigned to you in order to achieve production standards.
• Managing all labour related issues to ensure that all staff members are contributing to the objectives of the company.
• Maintaining product quality, hygiene and biosecurity standards.
• Managing all resources to the maximum benefit of the company.
• Implementing and managing the 20 Keys principles, risk and safety.

Required Qualification And Knowledge

• Minimum of a grade 12 education.
• Minimum of 3 years broiler experience.
• Passionate, self-motivated and performance driven.
• A team player with the strong people skills and the ability to manage staff.
• Must have good administrative skills and ability to control documents.
• Must be pro-active with strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
• Strong commitment to quality, hygiene, biosecurity, and continuous improvement.
• Willingness to work irregular hours, including nightshift, weekends and public holidays when required.
