Job summary

Qualifications

• Matric or an equivalent qualification.
• Previous experience as a Mould Operator or in a similar production machine operating role.
• Ability to read and follow production instructions, job cards and quality specifications.
• Willingness to work shifts, overtime and weekends as production demands require.
• Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods in a factory environment.
• Good understanding of health and safety practices in a manufacturing setting.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work well within a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate moulding machinery in line with SOPs and production schedules.
• Set up, start up and shut down machines safely at shift start/end.
• Load raw materials and monitor feed levels throughout production.
• Carry out mould changes and basic tooling adjustments as required.
• Monitor cycle times, temperatures and pressures, and adjust settings accordingly.
• Inspect finished product against quality specs and remove defective items.
• Record production output, downtime, scrap and reject figures accurately.
• Perform routine cleaning and basic preventative maintenance on machines and moulds.
• Report faults, breakdowns and deviations to supervisor promptly.
• Assist with trimming, finishing, packing and labelling of finished goods as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and adhere to housekeeping standards.

Overview Our client, a well established manufacturing operation based in Amanzimtoti, is seeking a reliable Mould Operator to join its production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of moulding equipment, ensuring that output consistently meets quality and volume targets. This is a hands on role suited to someone who takes pride in workmanship and thrives in a busy production environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate moulding machinery in line with standard operating procedures and production schedules
• Set up, start up and shut down machines safely at the beginning and end of each shift
• Load raw materials and monitor feed levels throughout the production run
• Carry out mould changes and basic tooling adjustments as required
• Monitor cycle times, temperatures and pressures, and adjust settings within agreed parameters
• Inspect finished product against quality specifications and remove defective items
• Record production output, downtime, scrap and reject figures accurately
• Perform routine cleaning and basic preventative maintenance on machines and moulds
• Report machine faults, breakdowns and quality deviations to the supervisor without delay
• Assist with trimming, finishing, packing and labelling of finished goods where needed
• Maintain a clean, orderly and safe work area in line with housekeeping standards
• Comply with all health, safety and environmental requirements, including correct use of personal protective equipment
• Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing waste and improving efficiency
