Job summary

Morton Moore Financial Services in Amanzimtoti is seeking a hands-on Mould Operator to run moulding equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring quality and output targets are met. The role suits someone who takes pride in workmanship and thrives in a busy production environment.

The successful candidate will follow SOPs, handle machine changes, monitor temperatures and cycle times, and support continuous improvement while maintaining a clean and safe work area.

Qualifications

• Matric or an equivalent qualification.
• Previous experience as a Mould Operator or in a similar production machine operating role.
• Ability to read and follow production instructions, job cards and quality specifications.
• Willingness to work shifts, overtime and weekends as production demands require.
• Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods in a factory environment.
• Good understanding of health and safety practices in a manufacturing setting.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work well within a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate moulding machinery in line with SOPs and production schedules.
• Set up, start up and shut down machines safely at shift start/end.
• Load raw materials and monitor feed levels throughout production.
• Carry out mould changes and basic tooling adjustments as required.
• Monitor cycle times, temperatures and pressures, and adjust settings accordingly.
• Inspect finished product against quality specs and remove defective items.
• Record production output, downtime, scrap and reject figures accurately.
• Perform routine cleaning and basic preventative maintenance on machines and moulds.
• Report faults, breakdowns and deviations to supervisor promptly.
• Assist with trimming, finishing, packing and labelling of finished goods as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and adhere to housekeeping standards.
