Placements24 is recruiting a Commercial Vehicle Technician to operate the Mobile Service Unit around Vereeniging, Gauteng. You will diagnose, maintain, and repair a range of heavy-duty vehicles at client sites, aiming to minimize downtime and keep fleets operational.

The role combines field service with occasional workshop support in a hybrid setup, requiring strong diagnostics, safety awareness, and excellent communication with clients.

Qualifications

• Qualified Diesel Mechanic or Commercial Vehicle Technician with relevant trade certifications.
• Minimum 4 years hands-on experience maintaining and repairing heavy-duty commercial vehicles.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and computer-based systems for vehicles.
• Valid driver's license (Code 10/C1 or higher preferred) and a clean driving record.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple service calls.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic assessments, repairs, and preventive maintenance on commercial vehicles at client locations within the Vereeniging area.
• Utilize diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical and electrical issues.
• Conduct routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, brake inspections, tire rotations, and fluid checks.
• Perform engine, transmission, suspension, and electrical system repairs.
• Manage inventory of parts and supplies within the mobile service unit.
• Maintain accurate service records with time spent and parts used.
• Adhere to safety protocols and company procedures on client premises and when driving the service vehicle.
• Communicate with clients about service needs and completion status.
• Occasionally support main workshop for specialized repairs or training.
