Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting a Commercial Vehicle Technician for our client’s busy workshop in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. The role focuses on maintenance, repair, and servicing of trucks and commercial vehicles to maximise uptime and safety.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of hands-on experience, a diesel mechanics or automotive engineering trade qualification, and strong diagnostic skills with the ability to read schematics and manuals. Code 10+ license advantageous.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a qualified Commercial Vehicle Technician or Mechanic, with at least 3 years in the field.
• Trade qualification in Diesel Mechanics or Automotive Engineering is essential.
• Strong diagnostic skills and proficiency with modern diagnostic equipment.
• In-depth knowledge of heavy-duty diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, and other commercial vehicle components.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• A valid driver's license (Code 10 or higher) is required; Code 14 is advantageous.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a workshop setting.
• Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and servicing on all types of commercial vehicles, including trucks, vans, and trailers.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues accurately and efficiently.
• Conduct thorough inspections of vehicle components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and steering systems.
• Utilize diagnostic equipment and tools to identify and resolve complex technical problems.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance to minimize vehicle downtime and prevent future breakdowns.
• Carry out necessary repairs, including engine overhauls, brake replacements, and electrical system repairs.
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance work comply with manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate service records and document all work performed on vehicles.
• Adhere to all workshop safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in commercial vehicle technology and repair techniques.
