Job summary

Marsh Risk in Sandton is seeking a hands-on Mining Lead with a strong mining engineering background to drive value for mining clients across Africa through risk management and engineering consulting.

You will lead high-value engagements, design survey scopes, translate findings into commercial recommendations, and mentor a multidisciplinary team while delivering revenue and NOI targets. Expect travel across SA and some international travel in a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline is required.
• Minimum 10 years’ professional mining engineering experience, with operations/technical exposure.
• Proven track record in consulting, project delivery, or operational leadership in large mining ops.
• Postgraduate qualification in business/management is advantageous.
• Experience in insurance, risk management or working with brokers/insurers is advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and deliver commercial results.

Responsibilities

• Lead high-value engineering engagements for mining clients focusing on risk-informed solutions.
• Design survey scopes and scopes of work that articulate client value and risk reduction.
• Translate technical findings into actionable commercial recommendations for clients and brokers.
• Drive adoption of risk consulting services within the mining client base.
• Mentor a multidisciplinary team and manage revenue, NOI and utilization targets.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and Marsh global mining communities.
