Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Legal Advisor for a role based near Rustenburg, North West. You will provide specialist legal support on mining law, environmental regulations, and commercial contracts within the mining sector, guiding the business to stay compliant and mitigate risk.

You will collaborate with exploration, operations, and compliance teams, offering strategic advice and handling complex legal matters in a dynamic resource-rich region of South Africa.

Qualifications

• LLB degree or equivalent legal qualification.
• Admitted as an Attorney or Advocate of the High Court of South Africa.
• Minimum 7 years post-qualification experience in mining and resources law.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on mining law, permits, and regulatory compliance.
• Review EIA and environmental legislation impacting mining operations.
• Draft, review and negotiate mining contracts and supply agreements.
• Ensure compliance with MPRDA and related regulations.
• Manage land access and community engagement from a legal perspective.
• Assist in litigation and dispute resolution related to mining activities.
• Conduct due diligence for acquisitions and partnerships in the mining sector.
• Advise on health and safety regulations applicable to mining environments.
• Develop and implement legal policies for the mining industry.
