Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Officer for its Vereeniging operations in Gauteng. The role focuses on implementing and maintaining the HSE management system, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a strong safety culture among all staff in a mining environment.

The candidate should have a qualifying HSE credential (e.g., SAMTRAC/NEBOSH) and at least 4 years of mining/industrial sector experience, with excellent communication and training skills to ensure compliance

Qualifications

Relevant health and safety qualification required (e.g., SAMTRAC, NEBOSH).
Minimum 4 years of experience as a Health and Safety Officer in mining/industrial environments.
In-depth knowledge of South African OHS Act and mining safety regulations.
Strong risk assessment and incident investigation skills.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain the company's health and safety management system.
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards.
Investigate incidents and near misses and recommend corrective actions.
Provide health and safety training to employees and contractors.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation.
Maintain records of safety training, inspections, and incidents.
Promote a proactive safety culture across the organization.
